Fredericksburg, Here We Come

Yesterday we were in Fredericksburg for the umpteenth time during the last few weeks and months, to look once again [for the third time] at the house we had finally chosen as our future place of living there, and, if possible, start negotiations with the real estate agent and the owners. Little did we know that it would be very fast and that we would sign the first contract. But that was how it went: we signed something like a preliminary contract. I don’t know better than to describe it just as this, for lack of knowledge in all matters of selling/buying property here in the US. What yesterday’s agreement means is that we have an agreement on the price and that now the owners can no longer go back and not sell to us, whereas we still have the right, after an inspector has seen the house and delivered his opinion on it to us, to say “no”. As said, it’s only a preliminary contract, but it is necessary to start all further measures [getting an inspection done and starting talks about a loan with our bank, to name but the two most important items]. Thus certainly things can still go differently, but we’re really confident – as everything coming is now in our hands – that some time in the near future we’ll be Fredericksburg residents.

There’s not much to be seen of the house because of all those old trees, but just that – the plentiful old trees – was one of the reasons why we wanted this place.

As mentioned abolve, the house has two circular driveways. This is the one leading to the main entrance.

And what was best: when we drove up to the house, there were deer in the front yard!
