Le Chalet – a Fantastic B&B in Fredericksburg/Texas [Hill Country]

About two weeks ago we were once again in beautiful Fredericksburg [Texas Hill Country] “a-courting”  😉  – well, to be correct, looking for/at some property for our planned relocating. For our overnight stay in Fredericksburg we usually choose new/different B&Bs, although we like all the places we’ve stayed at so far that we’d readily stay there again. But it’s also fun to experience some new accommodation. And that’s how this time we ended up in “Le Chalet“, not in the least because we had read some extremely positive reviews online. And we were not disappointed. Not at all! But if you expect it to look like a typical chalet, as the name suggests, the you’ve got the wrong idea. From the outside …

… it looks fairly pretty, but not like a chalet. It’s nicely set out in the back yard …

… there’s no interference from the owners. Their private garden is totally separated from the garden of and entrance to Le Chalet.

When we arrived, we were welcome by muted music – this typical sound of a “Parisian” accordion – quite pleasant and full of atmosphere. The table was very elegantly laid out …

And now a few more pictures of the interior in a gallery:

In every aspect a B&B to feel well in, to which the big bathtub with a Jacuzzi added a lot. It’s a pity we were there for one night only and also had to leave that enchanting little house early for our appointments with real estate agents.

Talking if B&Bs: while many in Fredericksburg call themselves Bed & Breakfast, but don’t offer any kind of breakfast, and while others give you a voucher for breakfast in one of the local bakeries, here at Le Chalet you’re provided with quite a lot of food for a good breakfast: ham-and-cheese croissants, cupcakes, toast, preserves, yoghurt etc. to name some of the choices only. Btw, even the evening of our sarrival was provided for: we fond 2 bottles of beer in the fridge. But as to that I really need to talk to the owners: it was Budweiser light. Yuck! 😉 Luckily I had brought my own beer [Spatenbräu dunkel]. We had read in the reviews, btw, that sometimes one is even provided with a bottle of wine there! What a service!

Finally I can only say: this place really is worth recommending. Very likely we’ll stay there again next week. We only hope it’ll be available then and not booked.

  1. It looks beautiful 🙂

  2. Mad Queen Linda

Very nice, and very funny about the beer.

    • Re American beer: I’ve always maintained that the beers brewed by the great American companies can only be drunk ice cold [as is the American habit] since you have to numb your taste buds to be able to swallow them. 😉

  3. Deat Pit,
looks cozy and a little bit like the B&Bs in England Dina and I stayed at when travelled to the South.
    Have a HAPPY evening
    alles Liebe
Klausbernd und natürlich lassen Siri und Selma auch lieb grüßen

    • Dear Klausbernd,
I agree: it’s realy cozy. And I’ve seen quite a few cottages like that all over England, btw.
Take care, and have a good one,
      Pit

(Es gibt viele Brombeeren. Wir machen Marmelade davon. Lecker zum Frühstück, ohne Kerne. Meine Frau Gisela nimmt ein Sieb. Habe die 3 Zähne.)

    • Hallo Wolfgang, hallo Gisela,
schön, dass Ihr die Fotos mögt. Es ist wirklich eine andere Welt hier. Aber eine schöne. Lasst Euch die Brombeermarmelade schmecken.
      Liebe Grüße,
      Pit

Also, ich habe aus Neugier mal “hier” geklickt – to no avail. 😉

I'd really love to hear from y'alls!
