A few days ago I quoted a passage from James Michener‘s “Texas” about the beauty of the Texas Hill Country. Here’s one more:
“[…] the fifth and most noble strip [of Texas], those marvelous, quiet lands which lay to the west of the Balcones. […] the very best part of Texas, the hill country.
[…] they found themselves surrounded by low, wooded hills of the most enchanting variety, graced by exquisite valleys hiding streamlets. The scene changed constantly […], now opening out into vistas, now closing in so that they could see only short distances ahead. ”

Lieber Pit,
leider weiß ich fast nichts über James Michener. Du scheinst dich auszukennen. Hast du nicht Lust, etwas über sein Werk oder eins seiner Bücher zu schreiben. Mich würde es interessieren. Häufig sind gerade die Autoren interessant, die die Literaturwissenschaft als “trivial” abtut.

danke für Dein Vertrauen in meine Fähigkeiten, 😉 aber so groß sind sie nicht. Ich schätze zwar Michener als Autor sehr und habe auch einige seiner historischen Romane gelesen, habe weder genug Kenntnisse über ihn selber noch sein Gesamtwerk noch über “Texas” speziell, um dazu eine Beitrag schreiben zu können, mit dessen Qualität ich selber einverstanden wäre. Kurz gesagt: in kann so etwas einfach nicht. Sorry!
